  5. Volunteer Construction Project in Fiji

    Volunteer Construction Project in Fiji

    Water, harvesting and alternative garden construction projects in indigenous communities

    Overview:

    Volunteers will travel to indigenous villages to assess and solve water shortage and unsustainable natural resources management issues, focusing on the design, construction, and installation of rainwater collection systems and vegetable gardens. The long term goal is to increase the quality of life throughout 27 villages across the Yasawa Island chain. Many of these villages experience severe water shortages, especially during the dry season, only cultivate root vegetables and have few sources of income. The project is run in partnership with local communities and The Yasawa Trust Foundation, who aim to improve the provision of basic needs in the Yasawa Islands. Based out of an idyllic beachside field camp, volunteers will be able to dive, snorkel, become immersed in Fijian culture, and explore other island chains on the weekend. Read more…

    Modbury Hospital are seeking volunteers to staff the Hospital café.

  11. Fishing Buddies Volunteer – City of Prospect (SA)

    Fishing BuddiesOverview:

    Fishing Buddies is a social program that supports small groups of six to eight elderly people or people with a disability to go fishing. The program aims to rekindle previous interest in shore fishing or to promote this as a new interest for those willing to try.

    Volunteers are required to assist with facilitation of this group. Ideally the volunteer will drive the 8 seater bus (only normal license is required) but this is not essential. Read more…

  14. Wheelchair Sports Paddle Assistants – West Lakes (SA)

    Overview:

    Help people with all abilities to experience the delight of gliding over the water powered by human movement and unencumbered by restrictions. Canoe SA works with Wheelchair Sports and SASRAPID to provide this great program with benefits for everyone.

    The volunteer role include: Assisting to carry the craft to the water and supporting paddlers to get into the craft. On the water, assisting paddlers to stay together or double in their craft. Helping to clean up and pack away and support with the BBQ following the event. Read more…


  15. Volunteers March

    This week is National Volunteer Week and what better way to kick it off with the inaugural Volunteers March held by Volunteering SA-NT in Adelaide, South Australia.

    Volunteers rallied together down King William Street, to proudly represent their volunteering organisation. We had 4 staff from Community CPS to represent our Community Volunteers Volunteering program and made it through with the fantastic efforts of some additional volunteers from the MS Society!
