Are you a caring, non judgmental person with strong practical life skills and a genuine desire to make a difference?
Do you think you could help disadvantaged families by teaching them essential skills such as how to cook simple, healthy food, organize their homes and shop on a budget? Yes? Then we need you!
The SuperGrands Program trains volunteers and carefully matches them with a family to provide in-home mentoring in a variety of areas including household budgeting, basic cooking and meal planning, making routines, basic home maintenance and parenting. It’s all about empowering young, struggling families through teaching them how to run their lives with confidence.
Full training is provided with an induction session, communication and boundaries training, and ongoing training in budgeting, meal planning and preparation, and strengthening families.
Your skills will include practical knowledge of household management skills and how to share these appropriately with families.
You will have a genuine desire to make a difference to the lives of young families in the ACT through reducing stigma and increasing acceptance; strong commitment to social justice and early intervention principles; willingness to work with disadvantaged families and empathy and a caring attitude.
