I thought I would take this opportunity to thank everyone for the experience that has been the Credit Union Christmas Pageant.
Words cannot not describe what an honour it has been for me to be this year’s King. To be able to share this experience with so many people has made it even more special.
Leading up to Pageant day, I have been very fortunate to visit a number of schools with my fellow Royal family, bringing the Credit Union Christmas Pageant magic to kids who may not be fortunate enough to attend Pageant day. We did a couple of performances too which was a lot of fun!
A special moment for me was shooting hoops with the Royal Family and kids at the Riverland Special School. Whilst in Berri we also visited St Catherine’s Aged Care where we met many of the residents including a lovely 104 year old who was delighted to meet the Pageant Royal family.
We also did daily performances at the Royal Adelaide Show and the parade which went from one side of the show grounds to the other. It was fun to meet and greet with all the families at the show. I would love to know how many households now have a photo of King Matt…….
The Pageant Trail, celebrating 80 years of the Pageant, was another stand out for me. We had 4 days jam packed of things to do from performing to story book readings to me running King Matt’s Balloonology Classes. I never thought I would have as many kids each day at the balloon class as what I did, we went through 160-200 balloons a day. The last class I ran on the last day I had 100 kids twisting balloons WAHOO what a buzz!!!!
Pageant Day was magical, to see everyone in the crowd and all the floats and performers come to life was amazing. It was great to be greeted by all those smiling faces.
I have been fortunate to meet some great people and I am sure I will keep in contact with the rest of the Royal Family members going forward. I’ll get to hang onto my crown till next year’s crowning of the new Pageant Queen and King when I will hand the reins over to the new King. I look forward to seeing you at next year’s Royal event.
